Join The Accidental Circus for an evening of Darwinism in Action & Luscious Cabaret. Collaborators since 2002, these travelers are reuniting to tour in July 2010 and January of 2011. This show promises danger and humor, beauty and song, progressive political humor and weird social commentary ~ all in the first act.
Ringleader & Juggler extraordinaire Paolo Garbanzo is the first American ever to become Jester of a European castle, and tours Europe and the US year-round presenting his original comedic material in three languages. Historical, hysterical, satirical, and interactive, this multi-skilled compere leads the AC as Benevolent Dictator for Life, gathering artists in from his travels to create an-ever evolving collaborative cabaret: The Accidental Circus. Mab Just Mab, DC’s Sideshow Girl, combines artistry and pain to create hilarious & compelling entertainment. A glasswalker and blockhead, escape artist and ukulele fanatic, she is a tenured freak at DC’s notorious sideshow venue & museum, The Palace of Wonders. Mab has as been featured in several documentaries and books on the sideshow revival, and performs solo, with AC, and as a pillar of the Cheeky Monkey Sideshow. The Mezmer Society demonstrates to the general public that, after a 60 year hiatus, it is once more permissible to dance to an accordion. Hard-riding highwaymen of mayhem, they missionize the Mezmer gospel throughout the States. Zany bellydance antics, torchsongs, and sinister accordionism are blended at high speed into a tall, cool, glass of delicious and intoxicating performance. Great for geeks, goths, and anyone who wants extreme festivity. Sidetracked is a two-woman team from Philadelphia that bowls the crowd over with high-integrity, rapid-fire, two-person comedic storytelling. They bring their considerable presence to bear on any audience, rejuvenating the classic Vaudeville genre, with contemporary subject matter and sensibilities. Bring your loved ones to dazzle them. After a few test runs, I’m getting the ball rolling on a new collective called DCVariety. DCVariety is all about celebrating the Variety Arts in the Nation’s capital, bringing performers together, sharing resources, ideas, tips and gigs. My personal goal to help bring out more Variety acts to the District (and beyond!). To that end, I’ve been working with the (stunning and amazing) L’il Dutch to produce a monthly event at the Palace of Wonders. I’ve searched the District to find the best you’ve never seen!Every month we bring you new and unusual acts that wonder and amaze! Sexy and Sassy, Crude and Classy. This Month! Ditch Higgens When I asked Ditch Higgens what made his Sideshow stand out, he told me “My act made a whole table get up and leave once”. I hired him on the spot. Stella Sweet Burlesque’s Good Girl, except when she’s not, Miss Stella Sweet comes to us all the way from the Aloha State, where she performed with the Cherry Blossom Cabaret. Stella brings the class and titillation of old school burlesque back to the DC stage. This curvaceous cutie exemplifies the art of the tease. Richmond Varietease presents “The Sexy Girls of Summer” Nothing says summer more than sun, sand and scantily clad women. While we may be short on sand, we’ve got plenty of sexy women for you ready to beat the heat by removing one article of clothing at a time. Our special guest this month is straight out of our nation’s capital. She’s cute, feisty, a little avant-garde and will leave you singing her song. It’s the lovely Kay Sera! Also coming down from the North is a former Richmond dancing sweetheart. She tapped her way into your hearts in our debut show, so we’re bringing her down for round two! It’s the dancing darling, Greta von Tapp! Bringing lots of summer fun and exotic flavor are your Richmond Varietease producers, Boo Boo Darlin’ and Dolli Holiday!
