Goblins, Midways, Festivals, and SPRING!

Spring his here and that means…FESTIVAL SEASON! May has always been my busiest month, and this year is no exception! In fact, I had to expand the Mobile Midway into two units just to keep up! The Gold Unit (aka – The Cabaret Midway) will be heading out with The Carnivalesque Roadshow!  I had the honor and pleasure of touring with this group of amazing folks last year. This year, I’m hitting the faerie festival circuit (see below), but don’t worry!  Valeria Voxx will be managing the Gold Unit on the road! I’ll be taking the Green Unit (aka – The Goblin Embassy!) to run with faeries!

VA Burlesque Fest

May 30-Jun 1 2013 in Richmond, Virginia. History. Variety. Empowerment. Evolution.

 VA Burlesque Fest
Now in our second year, Virginia’s weekend-long festival Burlesque & Sideshow festival is held in Richmond, VA. The event offers THREE DAYS of empowerment-based performance, networking, workshops, and mentoring for both the public and the professional performer. We hire national and international Headliners to lead the festival each year, and select several dozen other acts from the pool of Performer Applications.
An epic good time, the event evolves to meet the needs of the community. Held in venues throughout the city, it allows visitors to get a taste for the city. Richmond offers all the amenities of travel to an artsy town: quality coffee-shops, great international food, groceries, chic galleries, unique boutiques and all things local and wonderful. We are excited about the potential of the Saturday show venue, an exciting ‘real theater’ venue with aerials capacity and theatrical lighting, and a capacity of 200. We will fill the place with the Bizarre Bazaar, a full evening of top-quality performance, and interactive strolling entertainment. This event believes in Education, both for the public and the artists. Audiences need to understand WHY these artforms are both historic, and relevant. The Workshop sessions are open to all, and are priced for accessibility. Teaching artists get 70% of class profits, and are selected each year from our event Headliners and juried-in performers. All performers are strongly encouraged to attend a class: support the artists, learn something new, and help create a culture of professionalism, constructive critique and valued information-sharing.
